We encourage mediated and amicable resolutions in relation to family law matters and provide assistance in areas such as separation, divorce, civil partnership, co-habitation rights and obligations, maintenance, access, barring/safety orders, guardianship and adoption issues.

When such a negotiated outcome is not possible, we strive to find a practical solution for all parties and to alleviate the stress involved during this difficult time.

We have extensive experience in all Family Courts. We also advise on ancillary issues such as pension provisions, pension adjustment orders and life insurance provisions.

Declaration re parentage for same sex couples

Section 21 of the Children and Family Relationships Act, 2015 came into effect in May 2020.

This changes the definition of parent in Irish law and introduces the concept of the “intending parent”. It allows same sex female couples to both be registered as parents of the child already born to one of them, conceived by way of Donor Assisted Human Reproduction (DAHR) Procedure. We have experience of advising clients if they can avail of this procedure, and of making this application on behalf of our clients before the Court.
