Our Practice Areas
The firm has years of experience in both commercial and residential conveyancing, acting for a wide range of builders, first time buyers, investors and home owners including voluntary transfers.
We guide purchasers through the entire process from contracts to completion of the purchase including liaising with banks, surveyors, insurers and all other necessary parties including first registration of title in the Property Registration Authority when required.
For sellers, we give expert advice in how to prepare for the sale, dealing with purchasers and their solicitors and finally completing the transaction.
We also advise landlords and tenants on all matters in relation to drafting and review of leases with all ancillary assistance.
We advise on all matters relating to the sale and purchase of land, including farm land and development land.
We have many publican clients and are very familiar with the licensing laws and in buying and selling licensed premises.
We encourage mediated and amicable resolutions in relation to family law matters and provide assistance in areas such as separation, divorce, civil partnership, co-habitation rights and obligations, maintenance, access, barring/safety orders, guardianship and adoption issues.
When such a negotiated outcome is not possible, we strive to find a practical solution for all parties and to alleviate the stress involved during this difficult time.
We have extensive experience in all Family Courts. We also advise on ancillary issues such as pension provisions, pension adjustment orders and life insurance provisions.
Declaration re parentage for same sex couples
Section 21 of the Children and Family Relationships Act, 2015 came into effect in May 2020.
This changes the definition of parent in Irish law and introduces the concept of the “intending parent”. It allows same sex female couples to both be registered as parents of the child already born to one of them, conceived by way of Donor Assisted Human Reproduction (DAHR) Procedure. We have experience of advising clients if they can avail of this procedure, and of making this application on behalf of our clients before the Court. If you would like any information, please contact us.
We advise on Wills, probate and estate planning. Our service includes the administration of estates, tax planning, preparing and registrating enduring powers of attorney and wardship.
Unfortunately, from time to time, disputes can arise in relation to Wills and Probate. We have extensive experience in litigation in this area acting for plaintiffs and defendants including Section 117 applications. We provide the same attention to detail in both large and small estates in order to obtain the Grant of Probate as quickly as possible.
We encourage all of our clients to make a will and it is our policy not to charge a fee for making a Will if we are carrying out some other work for those clients.
M.P. Black & Co. have considerable experience in litigation matters before the District, Circuit and High Courts including medical negligence, road traffic accidents, slips and falls, libel actions, institutional abuse claims, defective products litigation, asbestos exposure in addition to Injuries Board applications. We also deal with breach of contract cases.
Our policy involves identifying the key issues for our client in each matter and developing an overall strategy in conjunction with our client and briefing Counsel as required. We have a wide range of experts in all fields including actuaries, forensic accountants, medical experts and others whom we can call on to assist when necessary.
We provide legal advice on all aspects of Irish Immigration Law including in the area of Judicial Review. If you or a family member have received a decision such as a removal order or deportation order from the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) which you wish to challenge, please contact us and we shall assist.
We can deal with Deportation Orders from the GNIB, Visa Refusals, and Exclusion Orders and will act quickly on your behalf if required.
If your application has been rejected we can help with the Appeal.
We can bring a Judicial Review of your decision to the High Court, and help you through the entire process. There are very strict timelines in place to issue proceedings so legal advice should be sought quickly.
We have Specialist Barristers on our panel who can provide fast, expect advice
