Declaration re parentage for same sex couples
Section 21 of the Children and Family Relationships Act, 2015 came into effect in May 2020.
This changes the definition of parent in Irish law and introduces the concept of the “intending parent”. It allows same sex female couples to both be registered as parents of the child already born to one of them, conceived by way of Donor Assisted Human Reproduction (DAHR) Procedure. We have experience of advising clients if they can avail of this procedure, and of making this application on behalf of our clients before the Court. If you would like any information, please contact us.
